"Every breath, well lived, makes yesterday a dream of happiness and tomorrow ecstasy."

- Mary Burmeister, Jin Shin Jyutsu Master

Jin Shin Jyutsu physio-philosophy is an ancient art of harmonizing the body's life energy. Born of innate wisdom and passed down by word of mouth from generation to generation, the Art had fallen into relative obscurity when it was dramatically revived in the early 1900's by Master Jiro Muria in Japan.

After clearing himself of a life threatening illness, Master Murai devoted the rest of his life to the research and development of Jin Shin Jyutsu, gathering insight from a range of experiences and resources, including the Kojiki (Record of Ancient Things). The resulting knowledge of Jin Shin Jyutsu was then given to Mary Burmeister, who brought it to the United States in the 1950's.

Mary Burmeister began teaching the Art to others in the early 1960's, and today there are thousands of students throughout the United States and around the world.

Jin Shin Jyutsu recognizes that health and illness are associate with either the harmony or imbalance of our vital life force energy. The body contains energy pathways that feed life into cells and nourish internal organs. When one or more these paths become restricted, the resulting stagnation can disrupt the local area and eventually disharmonize the complete path of energy flow which leads to discomfort, pain, or disease.

Jin Shin Jyutsu employs twenty-six ìSafety Energy Locks,î similar to acupressure points, to address disharmony in the body.

By stimulating these areas with gentle finger pressure and holding them in particular combinations along the body, energy flow is increased and the bodyís essential nutrients then circulate freely throughout the system in order to:

  • release toxins
  • eliminate stress
  • relieve pain
  • decrease muscular tension
  • improve digestion
  • alleviate acute and chronic conditions

Jin Shin Jyutsu is a healing art that everyone can learn to do. Through the process of "now know myself" we recognize the wisdom of the body, and we learn to interpret the messages provided and utilize them to restore balance. Jin Shin Jyutsu maintains health by addressing the underlying causes of illness rather than merely suppressing symptoms.
